Saying goodbye in St. Marie
Day 11 - The drive from St. Marie to Billings was anything but fun. We left in a wind storm and it dogged us the whole way to Billings. It was a white knuckle drive and by the time Billings was in site, I was over tired and stressed out. Our goal was to make it all the way to Cody Wyoming, but Billings was the end of the line for me. We found a beautiful KOA on the outskirts of town and diesel was only $2.84 per gallon (the good thing). The KOA, although amazingly beautiful, was very expensive at $52 for the night (the bad thing). They offered a BBQ dinner and ice-cream social but both were out of our budget. Patti made grilled cheese (her specialty) and tomato soup. We topped it off with junk food from our pantry as we always carry an ample supply. We left Billings the following morning just two days before a tornado hit the town and did major damage.
The weather was really brutal
Ma is about to get blown away
The wind fought us all day
Our KOA site in Billings, Montana
Fabulous KOA, but expensive
Big Red us holding me up
Are we having fun yet? I am exhausted.
Glad you missed the tornado, glad you made it home safely. If you get a chance come see us in Crescent City!
