On June 7, 2010 Grandma, Patti and I left for a 3 week road trip leading north from Tucson to Montana. My mom's sister and nephew - my Aunt Lona and cousin Don - live in Glasgow, Montana just south of the Canadian border. We left bright and early Monday morning about 7:45 am. My hope is to make Albuquerque, New Mexico the first night.
FIRST NIGHT (MONDAY) - We didn't make it as far as Albuquerque. I battled severe wind for about 2 hours and decided to call it a night in Socorro, New Mexico - about 75 miles south of our goal. We spent the night in a Walmart parking lot being the cheap-skates that we are. Patti loved it and visited the store more than once during the night. Mom asked her where she gets the energy and all she said was "it's Walmart". We spent a long, miserable night - very hot with no breeze.
DAY TWO (TUESDAY) - We woke tired and beat from a long night but determined to move north. After a quick McDonalds breakfast and a cup of coffee we were back on the road - through Albuquerque and on to Colorado. Before leaving New Mexico we stopped for lunch in Las Vegas (no not that one). What a beautiful little town. Patti wants to move but then she wants to move to every beautiful little town we see. We had lunch in the town square and did a little site seeing before moving on.
NIGHT TWO (TUESDAY) - Tonight we are staying in a KOA located in Colorado City about 175 miles south of Denver. We were so happy to get set up and take a shower. I've been wearing the same clothes for two days. We dined on hot-dogs and pork'n beans with a "Skinny Cow" for dessert. Tonight we will sleep in the cool with the windows open. Toby is having a great time and he's being a very good dog (so far). He is sticking to dog food and has not eaten a single window shade or screen door. We even took him to the Pet Playground.
BIG RED is running great and working hard to pull this trailer up these hills.
