Day 16 and 17 - Buffalo Bill Museum

A little shorter than the original but a good looking Bill.  Behind us is one of the horse drawn wagons used to take visitors through the Yellowstone Park

Day 16 and 17 – We spent two days touring the Buffalo Bill Museum. It is actually 5 museums in one location and took us most of both days to see it all. In fact there was plenty we missed but after a while it gets pretty overwhelming. One museum is based on Buffalo Bill and his “Wild West Show”. It is a fantastic collection and a “must see” if you are ever near Cody, Wyoming. They also have a Fire Arms Museum, a museum dedicated to the Plains Indians, a Western Art Museum and a collection of mounted animals. What a bargain it was as a two day pass is only $14.

The Irma Hotel was built by Buffalo Bill for the tourists he expected - they did not show in his life time

Day two of our museum experience was cut short after the good news that Big Red was repaired and ready to be picked up. The problem had to do with the “glow-plugs”. For those without access to a diesel mechanic, the glow plugs get the engine started as diesels do no have spark plugs. After that, the engine just runs all by itself. Red just would not run with bad glow-plugs. Ford replaced them all to the tune of $965 and that was that. After robbing two Squishy Marts - Ma drove the get-away soccer van - we had enough money to spring her from Ford. Even though the night was prepaid at the RV Park, we decided there was enough sunlight left to get on down the road. We were under some time restraint as Patti needed to be home for her doctor’s checkup. The rental car went back and Big Red was harnessed up to our home on wheels as we bid a fond goodbye to Cody, Wyoming.
